Academic researchers and fundraisers share growing ethical and methodological challenges when asking individuals “do you - and will you- give to charity?”.
Academic researchers and fundraisers share growing ethical and methodological challenges when asking individuals “do you - and will you- give to charity?”.
Currently, very different areas of the fundraising ‘ask’ , whether for legacy development, face to face or distant direct approaches , and contacts with major donors, all appear increasingly challenging.
- What do academic researchers see as “difficult” questions when researching giving and how are these managed?
- How and where could academic research practice in asking questions on giving and understanding answers inform and support fundraisers in the field?
- Where do academic research and fundraiser targeted research needs and good practice converge or diverge?
- How do fundraising practitioners see and respond to their most difficult questions; and what scope do they see in learning from academic practice?
The Centre for Charitable Giving and Philanthropy is hosting a Round Table event to explore these issues; inviting fundraising practitioners and researchers to present and share their knowledge and knowhow.
Facilitators from key areas, including legacy development, faith-based giving, public and face to face fundraising will contribute to the Round Table conversations.
CGaP hosts are Cathy Pharoah and Jenny Harrow (Cass Business School) and Beth Breeze, (University Kent).
A summary report will be published on the CGaP webpages
There is no charge for attendance; but places are limited. Refreshments, including a light lunch, will be served.
Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in attending and we will send confirmation as soon as possible.
