Charitable Giving and Philanthropy

Jenny Harrow and Tobias Jung have edited a special issue of Public Management Review (PMR) on Philanthropy and Public Policy.

Dr Beth Breeze from CGAP at the University of Kent and Dr Karl Wilding of NCVO addressed a meeting of MPs in the House of Commons on the 8th June. Beth and Karl spoke at a meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Civil Society, which is a group consisting of MPs, Peers and people from the charity sector who meet regularly to discuss issues of common interest.

Following the Budget announcement, Cathy Pharoah, Professor of Charity Funding and Co-Director of the Research Centre for Charitable Giving and Philanthropy Research at Cass Business School comments.

The conference entitled 'Big Society/Good Society?' was held on 1st March at The Brewery in London.

CGAP’s workshop ‘Is Philanthropy the solution to funding the Big Society?’ considered how philanthropists could, or could not, be used in the Big Society.

The Charity Tax Group has published the Charity Tax Map, their study of the impact of the tax system on the charity sector. CGAP’s Cathy Pharoah contributed to the research of the report and presented at the launch.
